I scoured the Internet for secondhand 100% linen clothing so you don't have to
Catch me living in linen from now-September.
I find summer the trickiest season to dress for—especially if you’re a corporate girlie like me (hi! I see you!! 👋). It’s difficult to dress comfortably when it’s 85 degrees outside, 100 degrees in subway stations, and 60 degrees in office.
I went through my camera roll recently to remember what I *actually* wore last summer and what I felt best in, and I zeroed in on my linen pants from Monoprix.
These 100% linen pants are easy to style, comfortable, breathable, and office-appropriate. Looking at these photos inspired me to consider ~expanding~ my linen clothing arsenal, especially given that I’ll be in the office 5 days a week instead of 3.
Sadly, you can’t shop Monoprix without a proxy or without physically going to Paris.
So instead, I scoured these sites to start building up my linen collection:
Quince (affiliate link): You’ve probably read deep dives about Quince, but I know that not everyone can shell out $$$ for linen basics, nor can everyone shop secondhand (I often think about how people like Caroline Cray are left out of this convo entirely). I recently bought 4 linen tops and 2 pairs of linen pants from Quince in some off-beat colors (butter yellow, chocolate brown, tomato red, etc.) and so far, they’ve been serving me well.
Garnet Hill (affiliate link): If you have a bigger budget for linen pieces and want some that are thicker and more well-constructed than Quince’s, check out Garnet Hill. You can also find their pieces secondhand for well below retail. I got a pair of their black linen pants on Poshmark for 1/2 price.
Nooworks: My fellow maximalist girlies, this rec’s for you. If solid colors aren’t your thing, Nooworks has linen shirts, pants, and dresses in some of the most fun prints imaginable. I will note that their pieces aren’t the easiest to find secondhand, unfortunately. But can confirm that they’re beautifully and ethically made and absolutely worth shelling out for.
Big Bud Press: Okay, so technically they’re made from a linen-cotton blend, but I can’t get enough of ethical brand Big Bud Press’s crisp Pantry Button-Ups. The utilitarian and vintage silhouette quite literally make me feel like I’m putting on a uniform. I bought the Kelly green one in their Chicago boutique and love it so much that I bought a second one on Posh.
Poshmark and eBay (affiliate links): There are so many 100% linen pieces floating around on secondhand sites, it’s not even funny. And for extremely affordable prices at that—I recently snagged a vintage Liz Clairborne linen blouse on Posh for $15. Not even Quince can beat that.
So, if you’re feeling inspired to start looking for linen, I’ve already done that for you. I found a bunch of options ranging from sizes small to 4XL (we are size-inclusive here on The Emsider, don’t you forget it!!!).
Note: The Emsider uses affiliate (paid) links, meaning: if you purchase a product or service from a link I’ve shared, I will earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. All of the below links are affiliate links.
